Wellbeing & Support

Effective pastoral care and a culture of wellbeing pave the way for thriving learners and compassionate citizens.

Our pastoral care focuses on nurturing happy, resilient, and adaptable learners. We prioritize well-being through the Cognita Be Well Charter, supporting healthy choices and social engagement. Additionally, our safeguarding measures ensure a safe and secure environment for all students to thrive.

Pastoral Care

Ensuring every child is happy and feels supported.

We are proud of our pastoral care at RPS, ensuring our pupils are well-supported and nurtured in a happy and healthy environment. Our dedicated teachers provide individualised care, guiding children through their learning journey and helping them develop resilience and adaptability. We recognise the importance of emotional well-being as a foundation for effective education, understanding that happy children are more likely to succeed and be better prepared for learning.

Life presents its challenges to all of us, and children are no exception. Our caring and supportive teachers are always there to help pupils navigate their ups and downs, fostering an atmosphere of understanding and encouragement and helping to build resilience and self-esteem.

Wellbeing

Good emotional and physical health is the foundation of effective learning.

We are committed to promoting the wellbeing of our pupils in line with the Cognita Be Well Charter. We put the Charter's 6 pillars into practice in various ways, such as by promoting healthy food choices and implementing a policy of no chocolates and sweets in school to encourage healthy eating habits. Regular physical activity is incorporated into the daily routine, with participation in sports and reduced extended periods of sitting throughout the day.

Our focus on connecting with others involves social responsibility and enterprise, while our partnership with the Sparkle Foundation allows our pupils and families to engage in giving and doing activities, enriching their lives and positively impacting the wider community.

Safeguarding

Our school is always a safe space for children and the happiness in our hallways is almost tangible.

We place the utmost importance on the safeguarding and well-being of our pupils. We understand that providing a safe, secure and nurturing environment is crucial for our children's academic, social, and emotional development. We are committed to protecting our pupils from harm, and we continually strive to ensure that every child feels valued and supported.

By fostering a culture of care, understanding, and vigilance, we ensure that RPS remains a safe and nurturing environment where our pupils can thrive.

Best practice and best-in-class safeguarding procedures

Our comprehensive approach to safeguarding encompasses various measures to maintain the highest standards of safety for our children. This includes annual staff training to keep our team up-to-date with the latest safeguarding practices and protocols. We also utilise CPOMS (Child Protection Online Management System) to effectively monitor and manage safeguarding concerns. E-safety is a vital component of our curriculum, with dedicated lessons and integration across subject areas to educate our pupils about staying safe online. To support our parents, we organise talks and seminars on e-safety, providing guidance on how to promote online safety at home.
