The Key Stage 2 Curriculum
In Lower Key Stage 2, the curriculum introduces a number of new skills and approaches such as the use of learning questions to enhance children's thinking, independent research, and the use of word banks. We rely on Quality First Teaching and plan according to the children's needs and interests.
KS2: Developing independent and self-directed learning
As children progress to Upper Key Stage 2, there is a greater focus on independent and self-directed learning in preparation for the transition to secondary school. Teachers make use of both internal and external data to plan for success and ensure all children are achieving their potential, aiming for high academic standards. The timetable includes lessons called Theme that incorporate strong elements of Geography and History, tying together each term's learning and providing a cohesive educational experience.
