English & Reading
At RPS, we aim to foster a lifelong love of reading and empower students with strong English language skills. Our approach in Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 focuses on high-quality texts, RWI sessions, and regular reading. As students progress to Key Stage 2, they develop critical thinking, analysis, and evaluation skills through Whole Class Reading and engaging discussions. We believe reading for enjoyment is crucial, actively promoting it through various enrichment activities like author visits, creative writing workshops, and school-wide events such as World Book Day. Our library is a vibrant hub, and we leverage digital tools like EPIC and Oxford Owl to enhance learning.
Languages: French
Our French curriculum, based on Chris Quigley's Curriculum, aims to develop strong language skills and cultural understanding from Year 1 to Year 6. We start with fun, practical activities focusing on listening, speaking, and writing, gradually introducing more emphasis on translation, writing, and grammatical structure as fluency improves. Learning French enhances social skills, fosters an interest in other cultures, and can serve as a stepping stone to acquiring other languages. We offer differentiated provision for all proficiency levels and utilize digital resources like "Languagenut" to support engaging learning experiences.
Mathematics
Our mathematics curriculum is built on the UK National Curriculum, with a strong emphasis on arithmetic and reasoning skills. We adopt the Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract (CPA) approach and a mastery methodology to deepen understanding, ensuring every child progresses. Our internal and external assessment results demonstrate high attainment and expected progress across all phases. We ensure effective teaching through continuous professional development, "Teachers on Tour" programmes, and regular moderation. To enrich learning, we incorporate engaging activities like TT Rockstars, Pi Day celebrations, and maths-related Extra-Curricular Activities, bringing mathematics to life.
Music
Music at RPS aims to harmonise learning and joy through the power of music from Early Years to Year 6. Our curriculum, composed of five strands—performing, listening, composing, history of music, and inter-related dimensions in music—is designed cyclically, revisiting lessons with greater depth each time. We inspire a love of performing through ensembles and productions, empower students with practical skills to create their own music, and foster appreciation for diverse cultural music styles. Students engage with digital platforms like Garage Band and Chrome Music Lab, and can participate in extracurricular activities such as Choir and Ukulele Club in our spacious, well-equipped music room.
Science
Our science curriculum is all about igniting curiosity and inspiring the next generation of explorers, inventors, and problem-solvers! In Phase One, hands-on experiments bring science to life, while in Phase Two, students dive deeper into fascinating topics, developing essential skills for thinking like real scientists. With access to a fully equipped laboratory, students don't just learn science; they experience it, testing theories and unlocking the secrets of the world. We offer various STEM-focused ECAs and opportunities to participate in thrilling competitions like the Formula Ethara National Finals, empowering students with critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Sports & PE
At RPS, we aim to instill a love of sport and the value of keeping fit and healthy. Our Physical Education (PE) program develops gross motor skills, coordination, and teamwork, following the Chris Quigley Curriculum to enhance fundamental skills of stability, locomotion, and object control. The curriculum includes a variety of activities such as invasion games, gymnastics, swimming, dance, and athletics. Beyond PE lessons, we offer a wide range of additional sporting opportunities including football, netball, and basketball, supported by state-of-the-art facilities like our shaded multi-sport astroturf pitch, indoor sports hall, and temperature-controlled swimming pool. We provide frequent age-appropriate competitive house events and collaborate with ENRICH ME to nurture talented athletes.
Arabic
Our Arabic programme follows the UAE Ministry of Education (MOE) curriculum, aiming for advanced language proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Children begin learning Arabic from EYFS to Year 6, with differentiated lessons for beginner, intermediate, and advanced non-native speakers, and up to 6 lessons a week for native speakers in older year groups. We enrich the curriculum through internal and external competitions like poetry recital and reading competitions, exposing children to the rich cultural heritage associated with the Arabic language. Learning Arabic from an early age helps develop critical thinking and lays the foundation for learning other languages in the future, shaping culturally aware global citizens.
Islamic
Islamic education at RPS aims to cultivate respect, compassion, and a sense of global community for students from Year 2 to Year 6. Our curriculum integrates various subject links, including science through the study of specific Surats, morals focusing on truthfulness, honesty, and tolerance, history covering the life of Prophet Muhammad PBUH, and geography exploring migration to Madina. We enrich our Islamic curriculum with educational trips, internal and external Quran competitions, and curriculum moderation. The programme enhances pupils' behaviour by instilling important morals and values, guides them towards becoming good citizens, raises awareness about Islamic culture, and celebrates Islamic events like Islamic Day, Ramadan, and Eid.
