At Ranches Primary School (RPS), we are dedicated to providing a high-quality British education that nurtures confident, curious, and resilient learners. Our curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, enriched with specialist subjects like Arabic and Islamic Studies, and delivered by passionate teachers in vibrant, stimulating environments.

We believe in a holistic approach to education, fostering not only academic achievement but also personal development, critical thinking, and a lifelong love for learning. With a strong emphasis on wellbeing, sustainability, and collaboration, we prepare every student to thrive in an ever-evolving world and make a positive impact.

Nursery (Age 18 months – 3 years)

Ranches Nursery provides a warm, safe, and stimulating environment where young children aged 18 months to 3 years can explore, learn, and grow. Our family-oriented approach encourages independence, communication, and confidence, setting the stage for a seamless transition into primary school. The nursery curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, focusing on Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Communication and Language; and Physical Development, reinforced through Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design. Our purpose-built facilities, including individual classroom gardens and a shared sustainability garden, offer rich opportunities for learning through play and continuous provision.

Foundation Stage (Age 3 – 5)

Welcome to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at Ranches Primary School! This comprehensive, play-based educational framework is designed for children between the ages of 3 and 5 years old. Our approach revolves around child-led discovery, fostering creativity, imagination, and critical thinking. Classrooms and outdoor spaces are carefully crafted to be inviting and engaging, tailored to all learning preferences. We follow the EYFS British national curriculum, covering 7 areas of learning: Communication and Language, Physical Development, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design. Specialist teachers for Arabic, PE, Music, and Library enhance the well-rounded experience.

Key Stage 1 (Age 5 – 7)

In Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2), we focus on supporting children through important transitions into formal learning. Our stimulating and supportive environment nurtures academic, social, and emotional growth. In Year 1, we build independent learning and confidence, while in Year 2, children begin to explore topics more independently, incorporating research skills. The curriculum covers a wide range of subjects, including English, Maths, Science, Phonics, Theme, SEAL, Art, Computing, French, Arabic, PE, Swimming, and Islamic. We prioritize quality first teaching, with lessons planned according to children's needs and interests, utilizing methods like Thinking Hats and the RPS Character Compass.

Key Stage 2 (Age 7 – 11)

Key Stage 2 at Ranches Primary School spans four years, from Year 3 to Year 6, divided into Lower KS2 (Years 3 and 4) and Upper KS2 (Years 5 and 6). Our teachers foster an environment that best supports children's needs during these distinct phases of development. In Lower KS2, we build strong foundations in core subjects while fostering creativity and critical thinking, encouraging independent learning. In Upper KS2, children take more responsibility for their learning, developing communication, cooperation, and problem-solving skills, and are provided with leadership opportunities. The curriculum emphasizes independent and self-directed learning, preparing students for a seamless transition to secondary education.
