Back to School: Wellbeing and Readiness at Ranches Primary School
The return to in-person learning brings both excitement and uncertainty for families. In a recent Eye on Education episode on Dubai Eye 103.8, Hayley Lamb, Vice Principal at Ranches Primary School, joined Helen Farmer to discuss what a phased return could look like and how schools and parents can prepare.
Hayley welcomed the announcement, highlighting the importance of having children back in the classroom, while noting that a full and immediate return is unlikely as schools work through updated guidance and safety measures. She emphasised that wellbeing remains the top priority, with the initial focus on helping children feel safe, rebuild routines, and reconnect with their peers.
She also shared practical advice for parents, encouraging calm and positive communication, re-establishing daily routines, and having age-appropriate conversations with children without committing to exact return dates too early.
Academically, Hayley reassured parents that teachers will assess learning gaps once students are back, but the first weeks will focus on settling in and rebuilding confidence. She also noted that hybrid learning is likely to continue, with schools planning tailored approaches for both in-school and online students.
Overall, Hayley’s message offers reassurance to families: prioritise wellbeing, prepare gradually, and trust that schools are taking the necessary steps to ensure a safe and supportive return.
